TELEVISION WRITING Weekend Intensive Level 1

Learn industry techniques for both Sitcom Writing and One Hour Drama.   

 
Class Description:
 
This workshop is perfect for beginning and intermediate television writers.

Our Film Lab Faculty will share multiple approaches for creating television structures, finding stories, creating characters and writing dialogue.  There will be numerous discussions highlighting both industry standard and lesser known techniques to help you create your own Sitcom or Hour Drama teleplay.

 
As our instructors speak from their own experiences, questions are answered with first hand knowledge from professional situations.

During this workshop you can look forward to Screenplay Readings and Analysis, Group Discussions, Film Clips and Short Writing Exercises.
 
You can look forward to Lectures, Script Readings from Classic Shows, Television Clips and Group Exercises.

- Finding ideas from real life.
- Creating a cast.
- Television Formats.
- Act Structures.
- Sequences and Scenework.
- Why Classic Shows Work.
- Comedy vs Drama.

Instructor Profile:
This class will be led by Randy Pearlstein.  Guests may join in throughout the day.

Randy Pearlstein was a regular cast member on CHAPPELLE'S SHOW and is currently a principal on Comedy Central's MICHAEL AND MICHAEL HAVE ISSUES. Randy is a professor of film and television writing at RUTGERS UNIVERSITY and is on the faculty at the Peoples Improv Theater (The PIT) in New York City. He has also written numerous screenplays including Lions Gate's CABIN FEVER. Randy studied directing under Mike Nichols and annually leads seminars for the esteemed DIRECTORS GUILD OF CANADA.
